The standings of the FedExCup Regular Season points list have been
finalized and 136 of the top 144 qualifiers are expected to tee off in The Barclays at the Ridgewood
Country Club in Paramus, NJ, August 19-24. The Barclays is the first event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup with the top 120 players in the FedExCup point standings after the tournament advancing to the next Playoff event in Boston.
"On behalf of Barclays, I wish to congratulate the 144 players who earned a spot in The Barclays field",said Robert E. Diamond, President Barclays PLC. "We look forward to an exciting tournament over this historic course as they begin their quest for the FedExCup".
The Barclays field boasts players from 15 countries and seven past champions who have won the
tournament 11 times, including Vijay Singh, the only three]time winner of The Barclays (1993, 1995,
2006), twotime winners Ernie Els (1996, 1997) and Sergio Garcia (2001, 2004) and defending champion
Steve Stricker.
The field also includes 14 players competing for the first time at The Barclays in 2008 and four who will
have played in the event 20 or more times: Bob Tway (24), Rocco Mediate (22), Fred Couples (21), and
Steve Elkington (20).
Qualified players who are not competing in The Barclays due to injury or other issues include: Tiger
Woods (USA), Luke Donald (England), Justin Rose (England), Lee Westwood (England), Alex Cejka
(Germany), Jason Bohn (USA), Bob Estes (USA), and Roland Thatcher (USA). Only players who qualified
in the top 144 in the FedExCup Regular Season points standings are eligible to compete in The Barclays.
In the event that a player does not commit or cannot play in the tournament, his position in the field is
left unfilled.
