HARTFORD, Conn., Saturday, June 14, 2008—The Travelers Championship tees off June 16 - 22 at TPC River Highlands, welcoming a player field that includes 28 players who have won PGA TOUR events in the past two years, including six 2008 winners; nine past champions, including defending champion Hunter Mahan; and eight players who are past major winners. The field will feature four of the top ten players on both the PGA TOUR Money List and the FedExCup points race, Vijay Singh, Stewart Cink, Kenny Perry and Ryuji Imada. Most recent commitments to the field include Rocco Mediate, 2003 British Open Champion Ben Curtis; and fan favorite Bo Van Pelt.

"We look forward to welcoming some of the world's best golfers back to Connecticut and delivering another fantastic event for the fans," said Tournament Director Nathan Grube. "As the Travelers Championship continues to grow, I am pleased with the trends I see in our player field year to year. From the new practice facility to the charter flight from the U.S. Open and more, we've made strategic efforts to show to players that the Travelers Championship has their best interest in mind and that this event has a goal of being one of the premier events on the PGA TOUR. The players have definitely taken notice and I'm pleased with the relationships we have been able to develop."

New this year, the Travelers Championship will welcome the professionals to a new, state-of-the-art practice facility at TPC River Highlands. The 23.5-acre facility will be used both as a practice facility for PGA TOUR professionals during the Travelers Championship and as a learning center for youth golf programs by The First Tee of Connecticut throughout the year. The facility was strategically designed with fan viewing areas in mind and will provide a great new experience for spectators to see the professionals in action.

In addition, the tournament will feature a number of new enhancements for fans, including special access to the new practice facility on Tuesday, June 17 for Fan & Family Day. Festivities will include free lessons to the general public on the new practice facility during a special presentation of Play Golf America Day. Fan & Family Day will also feature golf shows, interactive exhibits and a Celebrity Charity Shootout.

On Wednesday, June 18, Hollywood stars and sports legends will tee off in the Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am. Participating celebrities include Hollywood stars Luke Wilson, Joe Pesci and Aidan Quinn and sports legends Chris Berman of ESPN, New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick, Pro Football Hall of Famer Andre Tippett, Red Sox legend and MLB All Star Dwight Evans, former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, former New England Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie, and University of Connecticut coaches Geno Auriemma and Randy Edsall.

The Travelers Championship has been named Men's Health Week on the PGA TOUR, a special initiative to promote the importance of healthy lifestyles for men and boys. Programming will include healthy concessions options and special course maps so that fans can track their mileage walked and calories burned. Highlighting the week will be a Men's Health Forum, presented by GlaxoSmithKline in which PGA TOUR professionals and other industry experts will share health and fitness tips. Emceed by Kelly Tilghman of Golf Channel, the forum will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 3:30 p.m. on the new practice facility and is open to the public.

The Travelers Championship will be televised domestically and internationally. The first and second rounds will be broadcast live on Golf Channel and the third and fourth rounds will be broadcast live on CBS.

The Travelers Championship is the PGA TOUR's only early summer stop in the Northeast. The tournament is a tremendous community event, and 100% of proceeds are contributed to two Connecticut charities, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and the Greater Hartford Jaycees.
